Captain Jeremy

Last weekend Jeremy visited Grandpa, Uncle Phil, and Uncle Rich in Sacramento. Boy was it hot! But no worries, Uncle Phil bought Jeremy his first boat and he loved cruising the high seas in Uncle Phil's pool.

Father's Day

John celebrated his first Father's Day and he had a great time! Mommy and Jeremy took him out to his favorite breakfast place (Homemade Cafe!) and they spent the afternoon in San Francisco getting his new watch fitted. The rest of the day was spent hanging out with the family and it couldn't have been better!

Summertime fun in the backyard

Summer has arrived giving Jeremy the chance to show off his summer attire. He loves playing in the backyard and hosting fun get togethers with friends. He is becoming quite a socialite.

Cristina and Casandra, other Red-Cross offspring, came over for a bbq.

Maya and Juliet are Jeremy's friends from our nanny share. Aren't they both cuties! They are both share the same birthday and are younger, 8 mos to Jeremy's 10 mos. It's cute to see them interact together. So far Jeremy has lots of girl-friends, huh?

Jeremy had a special visitor all the way from New Hampshire! Harriot, our friend Suzy's mom, visited and Jeremy had a blast with her.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa recently visited from socal. They make sure to come up once a month to spoil Jeremy with lots of love. This time they spoiled John and Cymbre as well. We got a night out and enjoyed dinner and a movie. Just like the PJ (Pre-Jeremy) days. We also got to see cousin Bruce and Donna for a fabulous chinese lunch.

My First Sleepover

Jeremy had his first sleepover with Uncle Phil and Aunt Rose. They came to Berkeley and took care of Jeremy for 3 days.

Jeremy had a blast! He loved spending time with his Uncle and Aunt. They went to 4th Street, the park to ride the swings, and even into the City for a bit of shopping.

He didn't cry once and was as happy as could be being a big boy!

We were so happy that Jeremy managed so well while we were away. It made it much easier to enjoy Juan and Bridget's wedding. As you can see we had a great time. Thanks Phil and Rose!!

Children's Day and Mom's Day

On May 5th we celebrated Children's Day, a day for the health and happiness of children. In Japan families celebrate with a Boys' Festival and fly carp streamers for each boy of the house. The carp is a fish of great strength and determination and representS the courage and ability of young boys to attain success.

In the spirit of this day Jeremy has been hard at work reaching many goals. He has mastered his "army crawl" and now pulls himself up to standing. He's a little cocky at times, reaching for things and ends up "face-planting". But, he is a determined little guy and always tries again and again. He's also started to enjoy the swings and cruising on his bike.

We just celebrated our first Mom's Day too. Jeremy and John spoiled mom rotten with breakfast in bed, yummy treats, and a time alone with a relaxing massage. It was a beautiful day.

Baby Friends

You may be wondering what Jeremy does with his days. He has lots of time to explore the world as a 8 month old.

Jeremy goes on lots of adventures; to the park, playground, local market, and his favorite, baby stores. He's also pretty busy playing in his jumper or with his ball and blocks. Plus, he loves reading and dancing when his favorite song comes on the IPOD. Friday he works out at swim time. As you can see he's getting quite buff.

To balance out all these activities Jeremy has a bit of a baby beauty regime. His three naps a day allow him to rejuvinate because as you can imagine, it takes a lot of energy to be so cute. Of course his facials help maintain his soft, kissable skin. And his nightly baby massage relaxes him before his 11 hours of sleep.

Finally, Jeremy has a social calendar to maintain as well. He has met a lot of baby friends and has quite a network. Last weekend he enjoyed hanging out with his buddies, Sienna, Natasha, Kristoffer, and Kaimana. Everyone showed off their latest talents, from crawling, to playing the drums, to knawing on a chicken bone. There was lots of "talking" going on too. Probably about their wonderful parents.

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

Jeremy enjoyed his first Easter in socal. The weather was amazing so Jeremy lounged about in his summer clothes showing off his toned arms and legs.
The Easter Bunny (aka Grandma and Grandpa) gave Jeremy lots of treats! His basket was filled with toys, candy (for mom and dad), books, and clothes.

Jeremy loved the tradition of the Easter egg hunt. He and Dad found lots of eggs at Aunt Kate's. Of course Jeremy had to taste each and every egg he came across. There was money in most of them, but he was content just playing with the egg. Isn't childhood bliss!
He hung out with his cousin, Chloe. Chloe is already 2 so she knew the ropes of finding all the eggs. In the end Jeremy was content just to sit back and watch everyone with Grandma and Grandpa.

We also spent time with family friends Rick, Lori, and Kelly. Jeremy fell in love with Kelly. I think he has a new girlfriend and misses her already.

He also met Zadie, Kate and Tori's little girl. Kate and Tori are Peace Corps alum just like John, so maybe Zadie and Jeremy will volunteer together someday. We had the best time hanging out with them at the park. We wished we lived closer!

My First Haircut

It was a hard decision for us.

Living in Berzerkeley the mullet allowed Jeremy to fit right in.

And we were going to have to give up doing the cool 50's hairstyles in the bathtub.

But, the time had come. At 7 1/2 months Jeremy went in for his FIRST HAIRCUT!

Jeremy's cousin Kevin is a fabulous hairstylist and gave Jeremy his new look. Jeremy immediately felt comfortable with him and enjoyed all the special treatment at the fancy salon. He let Kevin do his magic snipping away at his long locks. He even enjoyed when Kevin used the clippers to give him sharp-looking side burns like his dad. But his favorite part was the hair dryer. It just made him giggle away.

And here he is with his new clean cut look. We think he looks much more mature, but still the little kid he is inside.
Thank you Kevin, you made Jeremy's first haircut the best ever!!

Mr. Mom

We've had a lot of changes in the past few weeks...not just with Jeremy. I'm back at work and John is on paternity leave until April. Jeremy handled the transition well. He loves having dad at home. Each day is filled with adventures. They haven't even been able to squeeze in a visit to mom's office yet.

Jeremy has also reached some milestones. He's rolling over and therefore keeping us on our toes. His first tooth is starting to peek through. And he's sleeping in his own room. It was harder for John and I to move Jeremy to his own room than vice versa. We miss waking up with him each morning.

A Flock of Seagulls ain't got nothin on Jeremy

Is anyone having an 80's Party soon? If so Jeremy would love to attend.

We immediately thought of Michael Score from the 80's band "A Flock of Seagulls". A little embarrassing, but true right? You're probably thinking we need to put the little guy out of his misery and give him a haircut. It'll be soon, but we just can't do it yet. He's only 7 months old.

Happy Valentines Day!

Loverboy Jeremy would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day!  He hasn't fully grasped the holiday, but he's learning from his dad that it's a great day to spoil the people you love.
Jeremy just hit the 6-month mark a week ago.  He had a doctor's appointment yesterday and is doing well.  He's starting to sit up now and has lots of fun playing on the floor with all of his toys.  He gets super excited trying to grab everything.

He's slowed down a bit in weight gain.  He's 17 pounds now, only a pound more in two months.  It's such a difference from his chubby days.  But as you can see his cheeks haven't lost any chub.

He's also found his toes which has elevated diaper changes to a whole new level.

The food front is the same...slow. Bananas are his favorite and he loves "drinking" water from his cup (probably 10% goes in and 90% down his chin).
